Community members join Joachim Ostertag on a bike rally from UBC to Crab Park to raise awareness about male violence against women and to celebrate the end of Joachim’s over 5000km Change the Cycle tour from Georgian Bay, ON to the Straight of Georgia, BC. At Crab Park’s missing and murdered women’s memorial stone, community members, advocacy groups, and community leaders will gather for speeches.

Route:

Starting at UBC, the bike rally will grow as community members join en route to Crab Park. Bike rally will travel on the following bike routes:
University Blvd
8th Ave
Yew St
10th Ave
Ontario St
Seaside Bike Route
National Ave
Thornton Park**
National Ave
Quebec St
Columbia St.
Alexander St
Main St.
Waterfront Rd
Crab Park
**We will make a 15-minute stop at the Women’s Monument at Thornton Park. Anticipated arrival time at Thornton Park approx. 1:30pm.

Schedule of Event

12pm – Meet at UBC Fountain, Main Mall & University Blvd
12:15pm – Brief speeches from Joachim Ostertag and UBC representative
12:30pm – Departure UBC
2:00pm – Arrive at Crab Park
2:15pm – Speeches (Joachim Ostertag, Violence against women representatives: 3-4 total)
3:00pm – Celebration w/ light refreshments
